Aldean Iniess Compton Hitt's Obituary
Aldean Iniess Compton Hitt, 93, of Rixeyville died Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Jackson House Nursing Home. She was born November 22, 1920 in Hazel River, VA to the late Luther and Ada Jenkins Compton.
Mrs. Hitt was a member and former Sunday school teacher at Gourdvine Baptist Church. Some of Mrs. Hitt’s most enjoyable pastimes were gardening, refinishing furniture, sewing, crocheting, reading, playing croquet, checkers and cards, word search puzzles, cooking, canning produce and baking. She was extremely devoted to her family and cherished her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchild.
She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis H. Jenkins and her husband, Douglas; two grandchildren, Douglas W. Jenkins, Jr. and his wife, Becky and Michelle Rakes and her husband, Donald, all of Rixeyville; three great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Humphries Hitt; two brothers, Elzie R. and William L. Compton; one half-brother, Leo Hitt, Jr.; and stepfather, Archie L. Hitt.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 11 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Lines officiating, assisted by Reverends Joe Edwards and Ben Grace. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
