Alberta Rae Pritchett's Obituary
Alberta Rae Pritchett, 77, of Spotsylvania, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center. She had suffered from declining health problems for an extended period of time.
Alberta was born in Fredericksburg, Virginia, on December 8, 1947 to E. Crismond and Margaret R. Pritchett and lived her entire life in Spotsylvania, graduating from Spotsylvania High School in 1966 before beginning 30 years of federal civilian service with the Department of the Army as a Director of Contracting. She attended the U. S. Army Logistics Management College where she received a Certification in Contract Management retiring in 1997 from Fort A. P. Hill, Virginia. She then spent 14 years volunteering with the Virginia State Police at their District 5 Office in Spotsylvania.
Alberta was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, the Mary Washington Hospital Auxiliary and the America Association of Retired Persons. She enjoyed going to the beach every Summer and Fall, supporting the Washington Commanders, tooling around Virginia and up and down the East Coast in one of her many Ford Mustangs and loved cuddling with her favorite cat, Scotch.
In addition to her parents, Alberta was predeceased by her brother, Carlton Pritchett of Richmond, VA, and her sister-in-law, Doris Sullivan of Greensboro, MD. She is survived by her daughter, Penny Ann Riddle (Melinda) of Pilot Mountain, NC, her brother, Tom Sullivan, of Greensboro, MD, her sister, Bernice P. Hawkins (Mike), of Spotsylvania, VA., and sister-in-law, Doris Pritchett of Richmond, VA. She also leaves behind several nephews, nieces and grand nieces and nephews.
The family welcomes friends and family to a graveside service at 12:00 PM Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Fredericksburg, VA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Alberta’s church, Shady Grove United Methodist Church, 11007 W. Catharpin Road, Spotsylvania, VA 22551.
