Agnes M. Land's Obituary
Agnes M. Land, known affectionately as “MawMaw” passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 28, 2023.
MawMaw was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. She was a proud city girl her entire life. MawMaw loved to utilize public transportation everywhere she went and never drove a car a day in her life. She moved to Arlington, Va in 1956. There she started her career and raised her children. MawMaw was a dedicated mother who worked tirelessly to raise her sons. She was most excited when she became a grandmother and got to spend quality time with her grandchildren. Over the years, she spent countless hours on the phone with family and friends. MawMaw loved the simple pleasures of being with her loved ones.
To Agnes, family was special, but her dedication to her Catholic faith was of the utmost importance to her. She prayed wholeheartedly for everyone she loved. She was generous even though she didn’t have a lot to give. On Earth, MawMaw was as close to a saint as one could be.
She is survived by her sons, Martin Land (Tracy) and Robert Land (Patty); her sister, Jeannie Valenzano (Mike); her grandchildren, Christopher Land (Rachel), Robert Land (Amy), and Melissa Kleppinger (Michael); and great-grandchildren, Walker Kleppinger, Lawson Kleppinger, Mariposa Land, and Dylan Land.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 10, 2023 at Fairfax Memorial Park in the Garden of Prophets, 9900 Gallows Rd., Fairfax.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Graymoor Franciscan Sisters of the Atonement at https://graymoor.org/support-us
