Adam Clarke White's Obituary
Adam Clarke White passed away with dignity and love on Sunday, July 12, 2015 in Culpeper, VA. He lived a remarkable and patriotic Christian life of 88 years since his birth in Natchez, Mississippi on November 5, 1927 to parents David Lindsay White and Lida Morgan. The family moved to New Orleans in 1933 where he graduated from Fortier High School in 1944. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1950, was commissioned a Lieutenant in the US Air Force when he married Dorothy Marie Lancaster of Parsons, Kansas. Upon leaving the Air Force he attended Graduate School at Tulane University in New Orleans, graduating in 1958 with a Masters in Electronics Engineering. Then, he began a long career with the United States Government until his retirement in 1978 with subsequent employment for a few years at MRI and MRJ in Virginia.
From 1959 to 1972 he lived with his family in Silver Spring, MD where his sons, David Allen White and Jonathan Clark White attended school from Elementary through High School. Then in Rockville, Maryland he met and married Karen Kay Evans in 1975 and they moved to Mclean, Virginia where son Adam White was born.
In 1982 the family moved to the “country” in Culpeper, Virginia. Mr. White, known fondly as “A.C.”, attended Culpeper Presbyterian Church where he taught Sunday School and was a Deacon and Elder in the church. He loved the church community and volunteered with the Helping Hand in Culpeper to help those in need. He enjoyed history, family genealogy, community service, taking his family to Europe and acting. He completed a book on his forefather, James Lyon White. He spent many hours grooming his extensive yard and many trees and greeting friends who enjoyed fishing at the pond. He loved his faithful West Highland White Terriers and German Shepherds. He is survived by 3 sons, 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and his 2 German Shepherds.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 16, 2015 from 6 to 8 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A memorial service will be held at Culpeper Presbyterian Church, at 1 pm at 215 S Main Street, on Friday, July 17, 2015. Visitation will begin at 12 pm. Interment will follow immediately after the memorial service at the Culpeper National Cemetery with military honors provided by Culpeper V.F.W. Post 2524.
