September 24, 1942 - April 13, 2022
Joyce Noel Hamrick, 77, of Spotsylvania County passed away Wednesday April 13, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Clyde Hamrick Sr. Known as Nannie to all who loved her, she is survived by her sister, Sandra Noel, her children, DeAnna Hill, Sherril Snyder (Robbie), Ronnie Chewning (Theresa), and Clyde Hamrick Jr (Amanda); her grandchildren, Randy, Brandy, Crystal (Richard), Ashley – Peeka (Jacob), Marvin Hamrick Jr (JR) (Emily), Travis (Mary), Courtney, Katelyn, Madison, Rory, and Erin, and his great grandchildren, Scarlett, Camden, Lily, McKayla, Addison, Colton, Jaxon, Alivia, and Miranda. She will continue to be the angel who looked after her family as she joins her son Marvin Hamrick Sr., and her grandson Jeremey Hamrick in heaven. Joyce learned her work ethic on her Nannie’s farm when she was a child. Nannie was one the few female paramedics when she started in the 60’s, and continued to serve as an EMT and Registered Nurse for many years. She shared her father’s love for aviation earning her pilot’s license at a young age. Nannie was an avid seamstress and crafter, participating in many craft shows with her late mother. She always had a story to tell about her many adventures, passing on a love of learning and inspiring a love of crafting to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved her little camper at the beach, crocheting and sewing outfits, hats, and scarves for her family (great grandchildren), and reading medical themed books. She loved her dogs, the latest being Pearl, Alice and Lovey. Nannie could often be seen rolling her wheelchair in the neighborhood following the great grandkids on their bikes, while pushing Lovey in her dog stroller. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was never happier than when she had a lap full of grandbabies. Nannie was a true wonder woman, miraculously overcoming numerous crises in her life with unimaginable strength and grace. She never let anything slow her down and her persistence was truly remarkable. Nannie loved everyone unconditionally, without judgment. Her home and heart were always open to anyone in need. She was a fixer and if she couldn’t fix your problems, she would listen and give shrewd advice. She believed family had little to do with blood and everything to do with love. Nannie touched so many people and truly left her mark on this earth. We are blessed to have known her, and to learn from her determination, selflessness, and boundless love. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2022 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2022 in Lakewood Cemetery in Bowling Green, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests remembrances be made in the form of donations to the American Cancer Society.
