Carolyn D. Wright, 90, passed unexpectedly on December 13, 2021 at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, VA. She was born December 10, 1931 to the late John and Myrtle DuPriest in Portsmouth, Virginia. Carolyn graduated from Craddock High School in Craddock, VA and she attended William and Mary College. She met James R. Woodrow and they were married on April 21, 1950. She worked for the Virginia Department of Revenue in Fairfax City and Loudoun County where she retired. After her retirement, she and James worked together to create a building and contracting business. The couple retired from Loudon County to Charles Town, WV where she continued to live after her husband passed away. She was very active in her church and found so much pleasure in Civil War re-enactment, square dancing, involvement in the Kiwanis Club and so many other hobbies. She adored entertaining and having her children and grandchildren around her. She was an avid animal lover and always had a menagerie of pets and was a safe haven for her children’s friends whenever they needed guidance or a place to stay. While in Charles Town, she met and married Thomas E. Wright, Jr. on November 24, 2001. After his passing, she continued to enjoy their love of square dancing and staying active in their Kiwanis Club. She recently moved to Colonial Beach, VA where she joined Colonial Beach Methodist Church. Surviving her are her sister, Cheryl Dyksen; her children, Donnie Woodrow (Kathryn), Susan Logan, Kenny Woodrow, Robin Blow (Jamie); and her grandchildren, Adam, Julie, Jessica, Megan, Aaron, Sarah, Alex, and Maggie, and their respective families. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Woodrow; her second husband, Thomas E. Wright, Jr.; and her brother, Frank DuPriest. A small graveside funeral was held for the family at St. Marks Methodist Church in Crewe, VA. Please join us to celebrate the life of Carolyn D. Wright. The event will take place on March 12, 2022 at 1:00p and it will be held at the Oakland UMC, 70 Oakland Terrace, Charles Town, WV.
