Dear Audets and Greens,

Liz and I were close friends for many years. We lost touch when I left Washington, but I never felt that we really lost touch. Things got hectic. I always made sure I knew how to contact her, but didn't, until yesterday when I learned that I was a month too late. I will never again wait for "just the right time" to get back in touch with someone I love. I think of Liz every time I am on the highway passing a truck. Do you remember that truck that hit her car? How unlikely was that? I think of Liz every time I pass a "Psychic Here" sign, because she and I wrote a story about road side psychics. I think about Liz every time I go to my basement, which is often, because I have a photo of us on the wall down there (where I keep all meaningful photos) from our trip to Ireland, where we had such fun and where she was so happy to see her relatives' stomping grounds. I so wish I had been able to say goodbye to her and am miserable that I didn't take the time to say hello. Liz was and will be one of my most favorite people in the world. We had some great adventures together and while I have missed her these years, it just never occurred to me that she wouldn't be there. I continue to miss her tremendously.

Dear Jim and family,
I won't write each time I do it, but I just wanted to let you know, that today, I donated to the SPCA in Liz's name. It is where I got my dog and sometimes I just go to visit the animals. I also always try to donate or buy something to help them. Today I did and added in extra in her name. Just to let you know. I can see her smiling now.

I had the pleasure of working with Liz for about 4 years. She has shown herself to be a very dedicated, caring person. Liz, not only, selflessly offered herself, through counseling and support, to her students, she did the same for her co-workers. More specifically, she helped me. Liz was able to look beyond her own ordeal and help me deal with the realization that my mother, too, was now in the fight. For that, and for many other reasons, I am thankful for having Liz in my life.

I've known Liz for many years from her work at the detention center and at the schools. I will always remember her beautiful eyes and genuineness and our conversations at the monthly social worker meetings when we got a chance to catch up with each other. We are all so very blessed to have had Liz in our lives and my heart goes out to her family.

To Liz's Loved Ones,

Liz and I were co-workers at the RAEP. She had the rare gift of making you feel more of yourself and a better self when you were in her presence. It's a very good thing she graced the world by becoming a social worker :) Your grief is heavy now and that burden does get lighter. Remember that the loss is a temporary one. Liz is in a wonderful place. You all and she shall continue to be in my prayers. God bless.

Liz & I worked & played together during our time at GMU, where we shared duties at the student newspaper, classes, and many beers and late nights. I admired and respected her. Reading her obit, I find I still do...what a wonderful life of service you led, dear Liz. May you rest in peace and may your family find solace in your everlasting light.
