I’m so sad to hear of Shelia’s passing. We became friends in the early 90’s when we both worked at SoFro Fabrics in Winchester,VA. She was a wonderful example of a godly woman. We both shared a love of cats and sewing. I very much admired Shelia’s sewing and quilting ability and enjoyed spending time with her on Facebook after she moved away. I will surely miss her.
What can I share about Shelia? How can I begin to say how special she was? She was more than a cousin, more than even a best friend, a sister-in-the LORD, a sister kind of because neither of us had one. We shared faith, confidences, failings, and triumphs. We prayed for each others children, family members and friends. We cried over funerals, weddings and births. She loved being Mom, she adored being Nana to grandkids and greats. She had friends from life, she had friends on facebook. She learned to operate an IPAD in her late 70's-early 80's just to keep in touch. She cared and prayed for everyone. She loved cartoons and the funnies. Books and politics were a passion. She was involved in life, in people. She surrounded herself with beautiful things and she was an excellent sewing person, quilter and crafter. Her head was always full of ideas. She gardened and loved nature. She had advice on just about any subject.
The world has lost a special lady but I have wonderful memories to cherish. Before ANY passion, she longed to hear "Well done, you good and faithful servant" from her LORD. I have no doubt she heard those words and rejoiced. In spite of all the awesome things she's seeing, I know she has an eye toward the gate, looking for each one of us. We can't disappoint her.
My heart hurts. I will miss Sheila very much. She is my cousin from my Gunn side and even though we never meet in person she is very dear to my heart. I just lost my 34 year son and Sheila 's messages and comments were very warm and helpful to me. My grief grows. My condolences to all her family members and friends. I am so very thankful I got to know her by letters and the Internet.
I will always remember Sheila as a kind, and caring person..The most talented lady I ever met! May our Lord welcome you with open arms to paradise! God Bless..Brenda
There are so many memories I have of Aunt Shelia and they’re AL fond memories that I’ll cherish forever. She was always leading people to Christ and consistently praying for those she loved. She shared memories of her when she was a little girl, taking her “book of flowers” into the fields and finding out the names of them 💐She was also very talented and could make just about anything. We once had a conversation about an apple she made when I was little. I was so taken by the face being made from an apple so she made me one and sent to me a few years ago! I’ll cherish it forever ❤️ She was an amazing Aunt and will be missed by all of us.
Sheila was a woman full of faith and spoke her mind. She was my son, Averys mother-in-law. I had the privilege of being with her many times at Averys and mothers day dinners. She had a wonderful sense of humor and together we had many good laughs. I will truly miss you Friend. Until we meet on the other side, peace.
