I still can’t believe you’re gone. This is now the second time that you and I never got the chance to say goodbye to each other.
I’ll always remember the little things that made you who you were. Like how you would eat cereal out of a mixing bowl without a second thought, just doing things your own way and not caring what anyone thought. I’ll never forget how much you loved your dog, Redneck, and how that bond showed the kind of person you really were. I still think about homecoming and how we went together—something I’ll always hold onto as a special memory from a simpler time in life.
I also think about the courage you had, even when things weren’t easy. Like the guts it took for you to walk down that long driveway to ask my guardian if you could take me to homecoming, especially after you had already been chased away from my guardian in a truck. You didn’t give up, and that said a lot about your heart. I am so proud of you. All of the battles you endured and conquered showed just how strong you really were.
Even though life didn’t give us that final goodbye, I hope you knew in your heart how much you were appreciated. I pray for your family, for their strength, and for peace in their hearts. You will always be remembered, always missed, and never replaced.
Until we met again, Track Star Mike..
