Elizabeth Sexton Harrington

Elizabeth Sexton Harrington, 88, of Spotsylvania passed away on January 19, 2022, at her home. Betty served the Lord throughout her life and touched the lives of many in our community and far beyond with her Christian witness, kindness, and encouragement. She was a faithful member of First Christian Church in Fredericksburg, Virginia. She was a beautiful woman of faith who also loved our country and her family deeply. Betty supported our military troops and appreciated the sacrifices they made. She was politically involved and civic minded, volunteering with a number of community, state, and national organizations over the years. She was devoted to her family and friends, who will cherish her memory forever. Betty was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Maria Sexton of Norfolk, Virginia, and the last of their six children to pass away. She was a graduate of Maury High School and attended the Norfolk Division of the College of William and Mary and Virginia Polytechnic Institute before her marriage to the late Dr. F. Baldwin Harrington, Jr. Betty was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Jill Harrington. She is survived by her children, Win Harrington (Carla), Anna Harrington Lee (Frankie), Dean Harrington(Margarita) and Keith Harrington (Stacey);grandchildren, Franklin Lee, Robert Lee, Tiffany Harrington, Yulia Harrington, Bryce Harrington (Sarah) and Summer Harrington; and her nieces and nephews. Betty enjoyed many trips over the years visiting family members across the country, accompanied by her niece Janet McManus. A funeral service will be held 12 p.m. Saturday, February 5, 2022, at First Christian Church, 1501 Washington Ave., Fredericksburg, Virginia. Burial will follow at Lakewood Cemetery in Bowling Green. Friends are welcome to call on the family afterward at the home of Anna and Frankie Lee. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Christian Church.
