    Benny Lester Yowell, Jr

    December 17, 1943 - February 5, 2022

    Benny Lester Yowell, Jr., 78, of Sevierville, TN passed away Saturday, February 5, 2022. He was born December 17, 1943, in Albemarle County, VA to Edna Fincham and the late Benny Lester Yowell, Sr. Benny is survived by his mother, Edna Fincham, his daughter, Connie Cubbage and her husband, Terry, his sister, Patty Searcy and her husband, Steve, his grandchildren, T.C. Cubbage and his wife, Bethany, and Cara Dodson and her husband, Blake, his great grandchildren, Aubree, Bailee, and Charlee Cubbage. He is also survived by his special friend and caregiver, Dee, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his sister, Betty McIntosh. Benny was in the US Army 25th Infantry and served his country in the Vietnam War. He was the recipient of a Purple Heart in recognition of injuries he received during an ambush in the war. He was honorably discharged as a US Army Sergeant First Class. He worked for Aileen in Culpeper, VA until he began working at VDOT, Culpeper District. He retired from VDOT after 21 years. He then worked for Cintas for several years as a truck driver. Benny was a lifetime member of the VFW, was a member of the Virginia Defense Force for 9 years, and a member of the Vietnam Veterans Organization. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at 1:00 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA with Pastor Bruce Beeler officating. The family will receive friends one hour prior. Facial coverings are required to enter the building. The family would like to invite those unable to attend to join the service via live stream at https://view.oneroomstreaming.com/authorise.php?k=1644637219166449 Interment will follow in Culpeper National Cemetery with VFW Post 2524 providing military honors. Pallbearers will be T.C. Cubbage, Terry Cubbage, Sr., Blake Dodson, Sam Miller, Jimmy Weaver, and George Clatterbuck.
