Kenneth Earl Cake

Kenneth E. Cake (Daddo), 78, of Woodbridge, Virginia, passed away peacefully January 17, 2025, at UVA Health Haymarket Medical Center. He was born on October 6, 1946, in the District of Columbia to his late father and mother, Charles Cake and Doris Jenkins. Ken attended Falls Church High School, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and Northern Virginia Community College, where he obtained his associates degree in Applied Science in Police Science in 1970. Ken also served in the Washington D.C. Army National Guard from 1966 to 1972 and was called up to active duty to serve and protect the public from the riots in D.C. during that time period. Ken enjoyed spending time with his wife, Myra Cake, his family, friends and his sweet dog Gigi. In his retirement years, he loved traveling with his late wife in their RV around the states, enjoying beautiful locations from the East Coast to the West, riding his Harley (especially the trips he was able to take with his brothers Spence and Mike), watching the wildlife and doing work in the yard at the home where he lived for over 40 years. His wife and love of his life, Myra passed on the exact same day three years prior to his passing. It is clear that God has a plan for them to be reunited for eternity. He was a selfless, sweet loving family man with one of the kindest souls. He had a huge heart and raised his kids to love and respect others. Ken was loved by all who were blessed to have him in their lives. In his final weeks and days, he was surrounded with love from his family and friends. He has now joined his beloved in heaven where they will be watching over their loved ones on earth until they meet again. Left to cherish in his memory are his children; Jeffrey Cake, Bryan Cake, David Sheehan (Elliot) and Foster Sheehan (Bart), his brothers and sister; Spencer Cake, Donald Cake, Michael Austin and Kathleen Austin McKeever, his grandchildren; Jordan Cake, Tate Cake, Cameran Cake, Logan Cake, Chance Duncan, Sloan Sheehan, Cole Sheehan and Cody Sheehan. He will be missed by many more extended family members and friends who loved him dearly. A celebration of life and service will be held April 5, 2025 at Church of Christ 13130 Hillendale Drive, Woodbridge, VA 22193 at 12:00 PM. Those planning an expression of sympathy can send donations in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association. “Those who touch our lives, stay in our hearts forever.”
