Julio "Lee" Torres Jr.

Julio L. Torres, Jr (Lee) of Rixeyville, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly. He was the youngest of three children, including two older sisters. Growing up, Lee was a good student and loved wrestling in high school. Anything he put his mind to, he aggressively focused on being the best. Lee also took Karate and quickly attained the level of brown belt in less than eight months due to his strong drive and determination. His flexibility rivaled even the most agile gymnast. Even as an adult, Lee had a strong work ethic. While attending ITT Tech, he earned straight A’s in all of his classes except for one B+ which really ticked him off. He had passed his first ITIL certification and was preparing to test for his CSSP certification as well. He was also a member of the National Technical Honor Society. He managed to accomplish all of this while working full time. Lee always liked family traditions. The one he loved most was Christmas. He loved everything about it…..the tree, the decorating, singing carols, getting his tin of Christmas cookies from his sister, Elena, every year and most especially, Christmas dinner. He also had a collection of stuffed, animated Christmas toys given to him by his mother-in-law. He had them on perpetual display throughout the year. He delighted in occasionally switching them all on at the same time so the house was filled with Christmas cheer even in July. Growing up, one of the traditions the family had was to make spaghetti on a Saturday night. His Dad would mix up the ground beef for meatballs. Then as kids, Lee and Elena, would stand on a chair and roll them all. Another tradition Lee always enjoyed was Sunday morning breakfast especially sneaking behind his father to steal the fried bacon the minute it hit the plate. That was the start of his love affair with pork. Lee loved animals. He especially loved his dogs Rascal and Elizabeth and cat Noire. They were part of his family and often went with him wherever he would go. Lee was a loyal husband and best friend to his wife, Sabrina. They met at work. For several months, Lee tried to do anything he could to get Sabrina’s attention. Finally one day after yet another try, Sabrina asked him, “Are you trying to make a pass at me?” With which Lee responded, “Woman, I have been making passes at you for two months!” One of their first dates was Starbucks in Barnes and Noble to have coffee and look for books. Lee bought Sabrina a caramel macchiato that she promptly spilled entirely in his lap. With barely a wince, he got up grabbed napkins to clean up but was more concerned that Sabrina had nothing left in her cup to drink. That was when Sabrina knew he was a keeper. They were married on November 30, 2002. Currently, he was working for BAE Systems Engineering as a cyber security engineer for the past two years. Lee and Sabrina had been researching the possibility of moving to Europe. They were looking at jobs with Lee’s company in other countries. One main criterion, they needed a country that was pet friendly as Lee could not bear to leave his beloved animals behind. They wanted to work in Europe and explore different cultural experiences. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sabrina, of ten years, his dogs Rascal and Elizabeth, and cat Noire; his sister, Ramona Torres-Boland, her husband, Tim Boland and their three children Nicholas, Killian, and Jordan; his sister, Elena V. Torres; his Uncle Leo V. Miller (Chip); and his Aunt Margo King and four cousins.
