Joyce Ann King

Joyce Ann King, 70, of Fredericksburg, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014 after a valiant battle with stomach cancer. Joyce was a beautiful strong Christian woman who leaves behind a legacy of love towards everyone. She loved her home state of West Virginia and its beautiful scenery where she and her siblings, Henny, Carolyn, Gerry, and Patty grew up. Joyce and her husband Chip married in 1967, and after Chip finished his service in the Marine Corps, they decided to make Virginia their home. Joyce had a beautiful smile that lit up the room and made you feel so welcome. She hugged with her whole heart and truly cared about the answer whenever she asked “how are you doing”? She loved her five wonderful grandchildren, Aaron, Taylor, Rachel, Allison and Peyton with all her soul and spoiled them every chance she got. Joyce’s children, Robin, Diana and Shannon, were so blessed to have her be a part of taking care of the grandchildren while they worked, and Mammy, as the grandchildren called her, knew she was blessed with the extra time with them as well. Joyce loved so wholeheartedly that many of her children’s friends thought of Joyce as a second mom. She truly thought of them as her children and fussed at them and loved them as her own. Joyce goes on to be with her Mother, Leona, and Father, Lawrence, as well as her brother, Gerald. Joyce knew a better place awaited her and she was more than ready to be held in Jesus’ arms. Her greatest wish was that all would know the love of Jesus Christ and the hope and peace He alone can provide. She wanted all to know of his offering of salvation and to have a friendship with Christ. Her family, extended family and friends will miss her heartfelt love greatly but we know she is pain free and in the arms of her Savior waiting for us. Her family will hold a memorial service to celebrate her life on Saturday, August 9, 2014 from 2pm – 5pm at Kingdom Baptist Church, 1717 Stafford Ave., Fredericksburg, VA 22401. Please come and share in the beautiful memories that Joyce left with each of us who knew her. Casual attire encouraged.
